Midwest Nailgun Records was the sleeper hit of 2007. It has been said many times from day one that what sets us apart is the fact that we continually strive to provide artists and listeners with an outstanding product, and do so with a level of openness, honesty and integrity that is (unfortunately) unheard of in the current market. This is what makes MNR a new attractive "alternative". Volume 1 was the first CD we released, and it showcased our attention to detail and willingness to collaborate with bands that are not afraid of hard work.
Let me be blunt, our compilation discs are not a "free service for great bands". On one hand, they are a new outlet for serious musicians, and on the other, they are a way for you the listener to experience several new tracks by people who take their music seriously.
This disc is comprised of 14 bands, from several states as well as overseas, and is a full-on steam rolling rock-a-thon featuring an hour of hard rock and metal acts (as well as liner notes on every band).
But this is only the beginning...
Help support our cause! V1 is available now.
After we unveiled V1, we had more than a few bands knocking at our door, so to speak. The decision was made to put together another comp disc, and the result was simply titled "Volume 2".
Volume 2 features more music and more bands from more continents. It has been met with excellent reviews and, more importantly, many happy bands!
This has been our mission from day one: to provide a professional, solid product at a reasonable price. I am happy to say that with each new compilation, we have made great strides towards perfecting this process, and volume 2 has been another shining example of our goals and ideals.
Still, as important as it is to showcase our professionalism, our main goal is to put you in touch with some new bands and music. So wake your lame-ass neighbors up! V2 is available now.
Ready to have your face rocked of by 14 new bands (and a few familiar faces)!? MNR Volume 3, delayed several times (by reasons that are incomprehensible to the human mind), has finally arrived. This time we've traveled to Greece, Italy, Mexico and the US to bring you over an hour of new, exciting music (digitally mastered by Billboard and Cashbox charted singer, songwriter, musician, engineer, and producer Todd Joos).
The tracks range from metal to acoustic, hard rock to death, but are arranged in an order that travels the spectrum with ease. V3 has also resulted in the MNR signing of favorites Fever Jack (Thiene, Italy).
There are those who would claim that no band should pay for ANY service, that labels should just throw their money at bands. To them I say, "the proof is in our pudding", in an extremely manly, heterosexual tone. We have worked with over 40 bands now, and not received even ONE complaint from anyone. I just thought that should be brought to the attention of our readers, because in a sea of scams and BS, MNR stands out by doing things right.
Don't miss out. V3 is available now.
Formerly known as Black Cat Nine, FEVER JACK exploded onto the European Hard Rock/Metal scene in 2006. Emerging from Thiene, Italy, Fever Jack has soared to the top of the hard rock/metal heap in 2007. Fever Jack is an original outfit that features catchy riffs, a hard rock/metal edge and energetic shows that constantly convert new listeners into loyal fans.
Their newest offering, "Get The Hell Out", is available now.
The band is heavy and melodic with influences from Metal to American Hard Rock and Alternative music - they simply play what they feel.
We are proud to welcome Fever Jack into the MNR family.
Few artists have emerged in recent years with the ambition and passion of Chicago's Loci. We are happy to report that their debut release is well into the recording stages with Billboard Charted NARAS member Todd Joos. The band falls somewhere between Soilwork and Breaking Benjamin, with soaring vocals over heavy, sometimes orchestrated, passages in a beautiful brutality.
There is talk that the legendary Nick Blagona (King Crimson, Nazareth, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Alexisonfire) will be involved! We will keep you posted.
The band is also searching for the 3 final members to complete their lineup - a second guitarist, a keyboard player and bass player. Once found, the band seeks to play out as soon and as much as possible. The band currently holds practice in Ottawa Illinois. If you are in search of a goal oriented, serious band, this may be your answer.

Over the past few years we have gained more than a little insight into the world of major label contracts. We have seen first hand bands fall apart due to unreasonable requirements, and have finally decided to do something about it. We now offer introductory level contracts to bands that are willing to work.
We will not promise to make anyone a millionaire, but we can alleviate some of the cost of producing of a professional product. This is what we strive to do, to assist serious artists.
The major labels are in trouble for a reason - what they are doing is not working, ESPECIALLY for heavy music. We are trying a much more simple grass-roots approach, which includes lessening costs and leaving the ARTIST in charge of their own music, ultimately helping people, not changing them.
I guess even more importantly - not babysitting them.

MNR band Fever Jack recently toured Germany in support of their release "Get The Hell Out" (available here). Here is an excerpt from their blog on the tour and next release:
"Hey Everybody!!
We had a GREAT time in Germany! Played for great crowds, and met some great people!!!! WE LOVE GERMANY!!!! We also had the pleasure of playing with 2 other great bands: Shenaniganz and Fox Meier, and both kick ass live (you've gotta check them out). We are looking forward to returning to Germany early next year after the release of our next album.

Cheers,
Roy & Fever Jack"
Also in FJ news, drummer Teddy Freese has been removed from the lineup to make room for new skin pounder Mikki, who we all welcome with open arms. He has already proven to be an excellent asset to the band.
More news on the new MNR release coming soon.
