3/23/09 - Pacal Signs with MNR

Volume 3 participant PACAL (who hails from Zacatecas, Mexico) signed with Midwest Nailgun Records this past week. Their new full length offering is already in the works and set for a 2009 release. The disc will be produced and designed by AJ Hauser of MNR and Hangnail Productions.

The band plays extreme death metal with influences including Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy and Unleashed.

Watch for the new album later this year.

1/28/09 - Volume 5 Announced - get info FIRST!

This is the fifth compilation to be produced by Midwest Nailgun Records. We decided to call it “V5” because, as you know, the number “5” is located to the right of “4” on most keyboards. We also toyed with the idea of “Volume %”, but that just didn't have the same ring to it.

Yes. We are aware that this is profound.
Sometimes we amaze even ourselves with the originality of our titles.

Sarcasm aside, this compilation will be set for a release mid-2009. It will feature all the things that have helped us make a name for ourselves and our product: 1,000+ copies, professional artwork by Hangnail Productions, professional mastering, approx. 100 copies sent to every band, 8-page booklet with every bands picture, bio and contact information…

The list goes on.

Don't be fooled by the legion of MySpace copy-cats. We were founded by musicians with the intention of helping musicians, and that is what we do. MNR is often imitated, but never duplicated.

We have launched our new MySpace page - Check It Out!

This layout was created from scratch and put into place by Hangnail Productions. They are currently looking to do MORE work in MySpace profiles and offer discounts to bands that have been on MNR compilations.

We have a ton of new stuff planned for this year in several areas. If you have been an MNR fan for a while now, you know that one area should obviously be MNR merch. 1/9/09 - Ladies and Gentlemen... Volume 4

Chances are if you have heard of MNR, you are familiar with our compilation discs. They have been and will continue to be produced above and beyond the industry standard on every level.

They all feature Professional Design and Pressing/Printing by Hangnail Productions, and Digital Mastering by Cellar Records. We always send 100 copies TO THE EVERY BAND, as well as pay the extra dough to include a booklet with a short bio and contacts.

7/30/08 - MNR Now Offering Introductory Contracts

Over the past few years we have gained more than a little insight into the world of major label contracts. We have seen first hand bands fall apart due to unreasonable requirements, and have finally decided to do something about it. We now offer introductory level contracts to bands that are willing to work.

We will not promise to make anyone a millionaire, but we can alleviate some of the cost of producing of a professional product. This is what we strive to do, to assist serious artists.

The major labels are in trouble for a reason - what they are doing is not working, ESPECIALLY for heavy music. We are trying a much more simple grass-roots approach, which includes lessening costs and leaving the ARTIST in charge of their own music, ultimately helping people, not changing them.

I guess even more importantly - not babysitting them.
